EXAMPLE OF DSI IN ACTION
As part of the
Integrated Referral Management Appointing Center (IRMAC), DSI provides medical appointing services to support multiple Military Treatment Facilities in the National Capital Region. DSI Patient Appointment Clerks process in excess of 50,000 telephone calls per month and perform all of the administrative duties that support appointment and referral management, as well as duties in support of the MHS beneficiaries’ access to care. On a daily basis, DSI’s clerks receive patients’ calls, determine appointment needs, validate patient demographics, verify patient eligibility, search for and select appropriate provider schedules and appointment slots, and relay instructions for the patient. Participating Military Treatment Facilities include: Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital, Washington, DC; National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD; Dewitt Army Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, VA; Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB, MD; and Kimbrough Army Community Hospital, Fort Meade, MD.
